Hello and welcome! I don’t love that I my name is also my website because I always thought that being a writer was about muttering to myself in the artistic anonymity of a dark corner, but here we are in this year of our Lord 2023. So who am I? Instagram wanted me to select “what” I am and gave me a set of limited options: artist, writer, blogger, or musician. The reality, though, is that I am a human person, not an internet personality. I am not a “what” but a “who,” with an eclectic and evolving set of passions. Just when you think you know what to expect from me, I’ll probably surprise you. (Getting used to articles on worship music? SURPRISE: spooky short story! Expecting another theological sonnet? SURPRISE: a random musing on my fascination with Bigfoot.) I’m going to organize my website so that it is easy to navigate and simple to find the content that you find the most interesting. However, because I am a collaborative pianist, worship director, pastor’s wife, speaker, and writer of all genres, there’s a good chance you’ll stumble upon writing that falls beyond your usual reading material…and that’s okay. I’m so glad you’re here, and I look forward to sharing my work with you!

I am so excited to read “Preparing for Glory” by @etstory. She was the only other woman in my first DMin course and I was inspired by her insight, kindness, and love for learning! And as someone who has struggled with image (who hasn’t, to some degree?), I’m looking forward to diving into “Beautiful Freedom” by @stacyreaoch 🙌🏻 Community > content is my approach to social media. 💛 Introduce yourself in the comments and let’s forge more fruitful connections! I wrote this Doxology verse for someone enduring a season of waiting—grueling, confusing waiting. But the same God who made us to live in time with its seasons of joy and sorrow, planting and harvest, will see us through. 💛 My @ring doorbell caught this at 3am. It’s three raccoons trying to get to my cute bird feeder bench from @aldi 😂 I feel like this needs to be memed…any caption ideas? Feel free to remix. Did you know the Greek term for “joy” is connected to the word for grace? Joy isn’t just a feeling of happiness (like sitting in the sun after a long run with lemon poppyseed ice cream). Instead, true joy is a deep, durable awareness of God’s grace. 💛 Reluctantly joining threads. If you like new lyrics, writing thoughts, and a few too many puns, give me a follow. 🙃 I wrote this song nearly two months ago (already?!) and still find myself pondering its lyrics. I hope it encourages you and, if it does, that you’ll share it with others. I’ve been thinking about the Doxology and how we praise God for his blessings. But if we really are to praise him in all things, maybe we need more songs about praising him through the losses as well. What do you think? Should I keep adding to this minor-key doxology? Would you sing it? 🙌🏻 In brainstorming my chapter on gentleness, I remembered one of my favorite short reads from last year: Francis Schaeffer’s “No Little People.” Most striking is his idea of extrusion: when God takes humble people and puts them into positions of leadership. It's a concept more of us need to ponder since we tend to crave prestige and influence. After all, social media tells each of us to have "main character energy"—to think of ourselves as the stars of our own stories, the centers of our own universes.
